Now the goal of my site is to teach families how greener living can still be affordable, tasty and fun. No need to wear burlap, move to a commune and only eat organic flax seeds.

I sing with and to my kids, and help them learn to play piano and violin. I use my degrees in education and medicine as I navigate parenting decisions. A lot of people assume that stay-at-home moms are uneducated and lack motivation; have a Dr. in my name helps to counter that assumption.

I am a renowned expert at how to squeeze the most productivity out of every hour of the day! Seriously- every morning while the kids are eating breakfast, I’ll sit down and make a list of what I want to accomplish during the hours they’ll be at school- and then I assign timeframes to each of those tasks. This keeps me focused on what I want to do and how long I have to get it done throughout the day- and stops me from heading down that Facebook rabbit hole!

My time at RISD, focusing solely on making art, was freaking magical. Ceramics was the ideal medium to experiment with, since it’s incredibly versatile, and I’ve realized since then that my favorite thing about art is the playing with different art materials, to see what they can do. That’s why I love writing a blog where I can share lots of different projects and art techniques with my readers- it gives me license to be all over the board according to my creative whims.

Dressing your baby for the Fall

As the days are getting cooler, stores, restaurants, and cafes everywhere seem to have a difficult time gauging their thermostats for the ever-changing weather patterns. I think all my schooling was great preparation for being a parent. I didn’t get enough sleep, I usually felt like I had no idea what I was doing, and I had to give myself pep talks practically every day to keep moving forward when it felt like everything was going wrong. Also, my kids have to put up with my overzealous love of lists.

I think the biggest thing that sets my blog apart is that I intentionally filter everything I post to make sure it’s “honestly do-able” for the average person, even someone who doesn’t consider him/herself to be creative. I’ve heard so many people over the years say, “I’m not crafty,” and it’s just not true. Sure, some people have an extra dose of artistic talent, but everyone can be a creator. I’m well aware that my audience is primarily young moms who have limited time and money too, so I make sure the projects I share are quick, cheap, and easy, while still looking fabulous in the end.

No matter who you are, if you are a parent, the safety of your children is your top priority. This is why, leaving your child in the care of someone else can be an extremely nerve wracking experience. As a nanny and someone that connects parents to high quality caretakers, I have spent a lot of time thinking about safety and what it means to be safe with children in a large city, such as NYC. I have developed a list of topics to discuss with your child’s caretaker before hiring.

strength in numbers in action - ants work together to pick a rasberry

“All for one and one for all, united we stand divided we fall.” This catchy motto from Alexandre Dumas’ The Three Musketeers captures the importance of what Twined offers. The concept of strength in numbers is accepted as a basic truth, but have you ever applied this lesson to shopping? We want to change that by enabling you to team up with others who are interested in similar products and using your collective negotiating power to get the best prices. We love seeing examples of the concept played out, especially in nature. Here are a couple of our favorite examples.
